With our fast-paced lifestyle and every-changing climate, we find it hard to spare some time to take good care of our hair. This is most applicable to working women who wouldn’t want to waste even a minute on themselves while juggling work and household. However, is the store-bought quick fix shampoo you use truly fixing anything?
Working mums experience a lot of hindrances in their daily lives. They have to take care of their house and kids along with being a full-time employee/businesswoman. First off, hats of these woman for doing tackling everything that comes their way with a wide smile on their face and a sack-load of determination. You are the powerhouses of our country and we salute each and every one of you for your hard work and patience.
That being said, when it comes to trivial matters like washing your hair or getting some self-care done, mums tend to turn a blind eye to it. They want it to get done fast and effortlessly so they can go back to being the boss ladies that they are. This results in purchasing over-the-counter hair cleansers as they seem to be easily available and come handy while in a rush. However, as time passes by the same shampoo which seems convenient to use may cause a lot of inconvenience. Store bought shampoos contain Sulphates, Parabens, artificial colors and fragrancesalong with many other chemicals which deteriorate your hair health. Research has shown that various chemicals lurking inside shampoo may induce serious health risks, like memory loss, eye and skin irritation, hair follicle damage that can lead to hair loss, and even cancer.
Phthalates, which is a chemical to help fragrances last longer, are carcinogenic in nature and cause various health problems such as nausea, problems in the reproductive system, and hormonal disorders. If your shampoo or conditioner contains added fragrance, then it is likely to contain Phthalates as well. Silicone present in most cleansers prevents moisture and nutrition from penetrating the hair shaft and thus makes your hair brittle and dry. Sodium chloride, also commonly known as salt, is a thickening agent in shampoos which damages cuticle of hair and is a skin irritant. Triclosan is used as an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal agent in shampoos which causes skin allergies and interferes with thyroid metabolism. It may also cause asthma and eczema in children. SLS dries the hair shaft, clogs hair follicles and induces hair loss. It is toxic in nature and also affects the immune system of the body and may cause respiratory problems. Parabens are a potential breast cancer causing agent found in almost all bottled shampoos.
In short, you are putting your own and your family’s health at risk by taking the easy way out. We have a recipe for our go-to hair cleanser which is natural and also doesn’t consume a lot of time, all while keeping your family healthy and happy.
