The face mask market is very saturated with many types like sheet masks, clay masks, bubble masks, etc. However, we only swear by organic herbal face masks made from pure ingredients.
Anti-aging creams are predominantly moisturizer-based cosmeceutical skin care products marketed with the promise of making the consumer look younger by reducing, masking or preventing signs of skin aging. Despite great demand, many anti-aging products and treatments have not been proven to give lasting or major positive effects. Anti-aging creams have ingredients like retinoids, AHA BHA, peptides and vitamin C which are all artificially made and added in excessive amounts. Upon using these products for a longer duration, one may experience dryness of the skin, acne, rashes, and can even change the tissue texture. Further, if it doesn't suit you, it may be carcinogenic in the long run. Some of these creams are photosensitive, that is, they tend to make the skin sensitive towards the sun and may result in unwanted dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
Face creams either make the skin too oily or totally strip the moisture off of the skin. There is no in between. Plus, they are packed with chemicals to make them smell nice, look better and give viscosity. Additives or preservatives are added to increase their shelf life which may have serious consequences on the skin. 100% organic face masks are a really good, in fact a better, alternative to bottled face creams which tend to be harsh. Compared to harmful chemicals, a natural face mask is anytime a good choice.
Why Face Masks Are Way Better Than Anti-Aging Creams
Benefits of Using Herbal Face Mask:
1. Reduces signs of ageing and sagging:
As your skin ages, it starts to look saggier, wrinkled and loses its elasticity. Usually, an active ingredient in herbal face masks, Aloe Vera, can help you deal with this problem. It retains the skin’s lost moisture and restores its radiance. Along with reducing visible wrinkles and fine lines on the face, Aloe Vera also helps in improving the elasticity of the skin and repairing skin cells. Thus, preventing premature aging of the skin. The salicylic acid in Aloe Vera helps in unclogging the pores, which is a great thing when you deal with pimples and blackheads.
2. Heals acne gently
Acne can be someone’s biggest insecurity. People try out a lot of chemical products like retinol to heal and treat acne. But these saturated chemicals can lead to acne scarring which is another hassle to deal with.
Neem has antibacterial properties that fight any kind of breakouts and also soothes itchy and irritated skin. A great benefit of neem leaves for skin is that it heals scar tissues and helps in reducing scars left by acne, pimples, burns or wounds. Because of the anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties, applying neem topically can also treat skin infections, soothe irritation and reduce inflammation without drying the skin.
3. Skin brightening
In a research it was found that people who use bentonite clay on their face are most likely to have a brighter complexion and better collagen production compared to the people who don’t use it regularly. Bentonite clay has been used by Indians since ages as a face pack and that is the secret to their glowing radiant skin.
It aids skin cell regeneration and skin tightening to make your skin look more youthful. Anecdotal evidence suggests that the silica in bentonite clay helps in making your skin soft and radiant. It is believed that silica binds to oxygen and helps the skin absorb nutrients more efficiently. Regular use of such masks is also said to lighten skin discoloration caused by acne marks, scars, and blemishes.
4. Detoxifying
Face masks should always have some detoxifying agents in them to help get rid of pollutants which our skin is exposed to on a daily basis. One such ingredient is the fruit orange.
From acting as a toner to giving you that supple skin, it has endless beauty benefits. The natural oils present in oranges help in giving a soft looking skin and retain its natural moisture. As it is loaded with vitamin C, so it has antioxidant properties, which fights infections and keeps our skin toxin free. Oranges unclog the pores, get rid of toxins and also helps in shrinking the pores to avoid further damage.
5. Sustainable and affordable
Using face masks made from natural ingredients which no added chemicals are always a good step towards sustainable living. These masks once applied to the skin, treat the skin really well and while getting washed away, treat our planet well. The ingredients don’t cause any pollution and are biodegradable. If that is not best of both worlds then we don’t know what is!
